'A hub for avocados': Laredo to host inaugural Avocado Festival this fall

So to celebrate Laredo’s position as an avocado distribution hub for the U.S. and the city’s love for the food, the Customs and Visitors Bureau is planning Laredo’s inaugural Avocado Festival this fall.
Council approved for the festival to be held at Uni-Trade Stadium, involving live music, culinary demonstrations, food vendors and competitions for the best guacamole and best avocado toast in Laredo. The estimated cost is $70,000 to $80,000, though CVB Director Aileen Ramos said they will be seeking sponsorships to bring down the price.
“We want to make sure that people identify Laredo as a hub for produce and avocados,” Ramos said.
